DEPRESSION? OR INFO OVERLOAD…

I recently spent 2 months counting down the days until my much awaited, short but sweet, 5 day vacation.

Literally a full year had passed since my previous “time off to do nothing” reward.

I was amped up mentally, ready to woo hoo! It up.

Be a little crazy, not check my phone, or emails or website stats or ANYTHING to do with my businesses or day job.

With the exception of one nice Ebay sale, my inactivity went as planned.

I spent some much needed alone time with my hubby, relaxing by the pool, and enjoying some nice meals out.

I got to have some girl’s time with my sister in law, feeding the casino slots and competing for who could act the coolest when winning even the tiniest of bonuses 🙂

I didn’t feel compelled to constantly keep an eye on my online sites, post perky motivational sayings on my Facebook page, nor comment positive remarks on 50 people I barely know’s biz pages.

All in all, a very “restful” time.

As all vacations go, it was over way too soon, Packed up, headed home and back to reality.

So where am I going with this?

Here I am, only 4 days after a great little break- again feeling exhausted, overwhelmed and completely dry of any motivation.

WTH?

Why do I wake up some days and literally run to the computer, coffee in hand and with a mind full of excited promotional bs, ready to send thousands of emails, Post banners and links on hundreds of sites.

Ready to Reach out to the generous donations that come in daily to my  50/50 site .

But other times,  I literally just cannot…

When I (like any middle aged crazy lady) google my symptoms, low energy, lack of interest, inability to focus and overall feeling of exhaustion for no good reason… I always end up on. “Depression”.

Why would I be depressed? I”m only 58, I have a sweet husband whom I adore, 3 grown children, all with their own lives.

I work a full time “day job” and have several little “Work at Home” businesses that keep me busy, entertained and in a nice little bit of cash flow.

The M word,  (Menopause) often pops up,  normal with my age and gender-   but I think I should be passed that at this point too.

My own mind wants to continually go back to a wonderful training from Brendon Burchard,   about how making decisions causes stress.

Apparently,  every single item that your mind sees and “decides” on, deciding to stop, read, linger, share, or pass-  be it a social media post,  an email advertisement, a note from a friend, a text message or even an advertisement billboard on the freeway,   ALL of these and hundreds of other visuals that your mind processes every day requires you to make a decision.

Every decision causes a little bit of stress until it’s resolved in your brain.

It’s an amazing (overwhelming, but amazing) concept if you stop and realize what your little head is doing all dang day!

What if we just “decided” to take a little visual break every day,  maybe just a half hour or so,  and either close our eyes completely, or choose to look at something beautiful.

Nature,  Water, Flowers, Art,    just anything that is NOT related to whatever business or project you’re working on.

Take time to NOT make decisions, choices, or even judgments for a few minutes.

If any of you actually read this until the end,   Please comment on what YOUR choice of

relaxing visual would be.

I really don’t expect any comments,  only likes and  invites-  because we are all so caught up in this process of promoting our businesses.

But I personally  will be visualizing,  and relaxing to this…

Month End Panic

box business celebrate celebration

It’s July 31st,   mid morning, and the panic of “Month End” is starting to hit.

All of my business friends are scrambling for that last sale,  last new partner, last little monthly goal to take them to the next level,  or allow  them to survive at the level they’re on.

My email is literally blowing up with offers from people  that I haven’t spoken to in months.

“Month end”  is very stressful,  even for the most successful of  business owners.

One more bottle of shampoo will get you over that $300 a month goal.

One more new business partner will promote you to Executive Vice President.

One more bottle of Hemp Extract and a new Free affiliate partner will keep you active and earn you a Free bottle for yourself.

Or for some,  at least one more sale or you may not be able to continue doing business in August 😦

What the hell are we all doing?

What would happen if we all just checked out for that last day or so of the month?

What if we kept that “fresh month” attitude that we have on the 1st,   all the way until say about the 28th,   then just chillaxed?

Would everything crash?    Would anybody die?

Would online sales and marketing as we know it come to an end?

NO!

The reality is,  (my favorite statement, used in almost all of my posts?)   the last day of the month,  “month end” as we refer to it,   would come and go,   we would wake up on the first day of the next month and see a true picture of our previous months efforts.

Good?  Bad?   Could be worse?

But TRUE results.

It’s my belief that the pressure applied by “uplines” to “downlines” near the month are one of the quickest ways to send a new partner packing.

The pressure of not measuring up in those first few months can be overwhelming to a person that is new to the day to day stresses of online sales and marketing.

The stress of trying to earn a large amount of money quickly in this business is not realistic and completely harmful to everyone involved.

What if we all used the last couple of days of the month to BREATHE,  and reflect and spend some time with the family that we’ve probably neglected just a little the past month.

Would our monthly totals suffer?          I doubt it.

I believe that resetting our priorities and taking a day or so to refocus at the end of each month would serve our businesses better than putting out that  MONTH END PANIC aura that we’re now in the habit of.

Today’s the day,   what are you  going to do?

Call the team, remind them that they “only have until midnight!”

Buy something from yourself to appear to have met that monthly sales goal?

Or put down the phone,  close up the laptop and take your kid to the park.

Drink some good coffee,  maybe catch a movie.

Just forget “Month End” and CHILLAX!      🙂

DEADLINES, Life’s little Director

Project due by Friday.

Kids to practice by 6:00 on Saturday.

Car payment due on the 15th.

Great sale at Target doesn’t start until Tuesday…

Schedules, calendars, planners and smart phones all keeping track of life’s deadlines.

What if?

What if we all gave up the strict time schedules that we’ve committed ourselves to in life,   and lived life based on our own internal clocks.

“Natural time”  let’s call it.

Natural time would mean that adults would be able to sleep until they wake without the shrill of an alarm clock.

Natural time would mean that children could practice ball, or piano or tennis,  when they feel like it,  not on a strict schedule

Natural time would mean that chores would get completed,  whenever…

Businesses could be open whenever…

Bills would just get paid,  whenever…

Yeah,   we all see why this would never work out 😦

But,  sarcasm aside,  there is an argument for simplifying your life by slowing down, weeding out and loosening up your schedule.

How about purposely planning a day every week that has no real agenda.

Wake when you want,   do the chores you feel like,  eat breakfast for dinner or maybe even skip eating altogether.  (Coming soon note on fasting )

Let life happen naturally sometimes,   it’s good for your mind, body and attitude.

Check out a deadline that’s coming up for me this next week!
